My parents dragged me to the farmer's market in Virginia Beach every summer weekend while I was a kid. At the time I hated to go, but as I got older I started to enjoy going. Eventually I grew to love bluegrass. I got myself a mandolin and try to play some now and then.

I grew up listening to country back in the 60's and attending a lot of country shows. In the early 70's while attending Kent State, I went to the folk festival and heard some string band music. From there, I bought my first bluegrass album, Live At the Celler Door by the Seldom Scene. Quite a few years went by until I heard Alison krauss and Union Station. I was hooked then on bluegrass. I began to listen to a show on WOUB in Athens Oh called D28+5. The rest is history.

I grew up in church singing bluegrass gospel songs.  My dad used to listen to bluegrass music in the mornings while I was getting ready for school.  I'd go to school singing songs like "Little Birdie" that were stuck in my head.  I guess you can say it's my roots and always has been.

I got hooked on bluegrass when I went to my first festival. Well let's say it's what finally hooked me.

Probably watching the Dillards on Andy Griffith and/or Flatt & Scruggs on the Beverly Hillbillies....
